Everything is heating up...

Well, maybe not outside just yet but definitely in here! All of our staff members are working hard and have a strong focus on the upcoming Summer Season. With a new class session quickly approaching and much else in need of preparation the gears have not stopped turning at the Arts Center. We've had tons of sign ups for our Summer Art Camp, but not to worry... those of you who have yet to register, there is still time! We've got a bunch of new camps this year, so be sure to check them out HERE on our website.

Our gallery line-up for the summer is also quite impressive.

The month of May brings us artist Stephen Halko (who was also a judge for our Juried Art Show in November of 2008). You can preview his artwork here.

June is also a very exciting month, because it's when we have our themed show. This year's theme is Pleasure Avenue. For those of you who are familiar with Ocean City, you'll know that Pleasure Avenue is in fact an actual street in our city -- but the show delves much deeper than that. The work submitted by well known local artists can be of the street or be their interpretation of "Pleasure Avenue." This show should be full of familiar scenes and very interesting takes on what is enjoyable and pleasurable to the artistic eye.

In July we've got Richard Samuelson, an artist whose work has been displayed for over thirty years and in such esteemed venues as Long Island City's P.S. 1 - a division of the Museum of Modern Art. His abstract paintings are done in greyscale and promise to be a treat for those who may not necessarily like to "get it" upon first glance, and also for those that do!

And of course in August:

WE MOST DEFINITELY HOPE TO SEE YOU HERE!
